about

Never

Neal Hatcher who plays bass guitar is everywhere on this CD, but he really goes to town on this song. Neal is a quiet guy, not much for words, instead he lets his bass do the talking and he had a lot of good things to say.
I can’'t tell you how or why I came up with “"I said never, I said never, but I never thought never would be this good.”" It’'s all about the chorus in this song, short verses then lots and lots of chorus. I knew from the conception of this CD this would be the last song, although it’'s a great song and could have come first. It sums up my journey through the impossible, and how as humans we can buy into what we are or aren’'t supposed to do, who we are or who we are not. Even as a kid I questioned that.
On occasion, my Dad would tell me whatever I was doing was” unacceptable”, and I remember thinking, "To who, Dad, to you, to our Heavenly Father, to the world as a whole, who gets to decide?" It reinforces the notion that we are never defined as a person. We can always grow and learn, and discover a new gift we never knew we possessed. I like that I get the last word on this CD and that word is “good.” It’'s a great way to end a CD, my CD, who knew?

lyrics

Never

1) You weren’t my type; you seemed like a player; you were way out of my league…

Chorus:
I said never, I said never, I said never and I meant never,
I said never, I said never, but I never thought never would be this good,
I never thought never would be this good.

2) I never thought I could love you so hard and you could love me too…

Chorus:
I said never, I said never, I said never and I meant never,
I said never, I said never, but I never thought never would be this good,
I never thought never would be this good.

Bridge:
I’m a practical woman, I know my limitations,
I know what’s best for me…

3) Who thought I’d learn guitar at fifty, who thought I’d write these songs?

Chorus:
I said never, I said never, I said never and I meant never,
I said never, I said never, but I never thought never would be this good,
I never thought never would be this good.

4) Why do we make these rules to define us, who are we cheating in the end

Chorus:
I said never, I said never, I said never and I meant never,
I said never, I said never, but I never thought never would be this good,
I never thought never would be this good.
I never thought never, I never thought never, I never thought never would be this…….good

about

Julie Clark Shubert South Carolina

If you listened to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and every rocking song you could get your hands on from 1966 to now and stirred it up with a Fender Strat and sang it from a woman's perspective, you would have Julie Clark Shubert "From the Inside Out." When Julie turned 50, her husband gave her a Fender Strat, the stars aligned and her natural gift appeared, the rest is kinda a blur. ... more
